There’s a museum at the edge of the city that no one can find twice. It collects the things people lose. Mittens, letters, promises. The curator, a woman named Eloise, spends her nights cataloging everything.
One evening, a man arrived at closing time, holding nothing but an old photograph. “I think I lost something here,” he said.
“What was it?” she asked.
“My name.”
Eloise smiled. “We keep those in the west wing.”
He followed her through endless halls, drawers labeled Forgotten Birthdays, Unsent Apologies, Abandoned Dreams. Finally, she stopped at a dusty glass case. Inside, a small card read: Elias Carter.
“That’s it,” he whispered.
When he reached for it, the lights flickered, and Eloise vanished. The museum was gone too. But when Elias looked down, his name was stitched into his coat again.
